2) Vua nhà Lư viết thơ sang hỏi nhà Tống th́ Lưu Gi lại vất thơ đi. Lư triều tức giận truyền lệnh cho Lư Thường Kiệt và Tôn Đản đem 10 vạn binh, chia làm 2 đạo thủy và bộ, cùng tiến đánh nhà Tống. Quân nhà Lư lấy cớ là sang cứu dân Tàu khỏi sự áp bức của Vương An Thạch.

2) The Lư king sent a letter inquiring about the Tống's intentions but Lưu Gi promptly discarded the letter. The Lư king therefore became very angry: he appointed General Lư Thường Kiệt and General Tôn Đản to bring one hundred thousand soldiers to attack the Tống both by land and by sea. The Lư army used the pretense to help free the Chinese people from king Tống's oppressive rule.
